Hello peeps!
It's been a long time since we have kept you updated with the events that Irvine Queers have going on throughout the year so let me introduce you to a new IQ board group who are determined to satisfy your needs and create a happy, safe environment for queers and non-queers to enjoy. For now, I will be informing you about the past events of each week, every Sunday and what is to coming up the following week. Sound good to you? Awesome.

So let's welcome in the new Fall quarter in UCI with enthusiasm and determination to get through classes, work, research, blah, blah, blah, etc.

During week 0 or what we know as Welcome Week for incoming students after a long (or maybe short) summer vacation, IQ held a booth on Monday 09/19 allowing all kinds of students to have a small glance at our club and what type of people they might be expecting when coming to meetings. That's right! It was the Involvement Fair where all clubs were enjoying each other's company in Aldrich Park. Did anyone of you go? I was there! Yup.

IQ also held a fundraiser at this year's annual Dodgeball event which was located in the ARC fields on Wednesday 09/21. It was scorching hot and IQ was selling drinks for those thirsty students who were either participating in or enjoying the dodgeball game. I hope you guys came and helped us out! And as always, we will be holding more and more fundraisers so if you did miss out on this one, come back and check out our calender and anticipate for more!

At the same time, UCI's own LGBTQ center was holding an event welcoming new and old students allowing them to meet and greet LGBTQ & Ally students here at UCI. IQ works closely with the center so we do encourage everyone to participate in their events too as they are not only fun but informative and a great space for everyone.

Classes have started and I bet everyone was bummed right? Well hopefully IQ was able to cheer you up with our bonfire event held at Corona Del Mar Beach on Friday 09/23; if you attended that is. Hah. No worries! If you missed out, there are going to be multiple events happening throughout this quarter so come attend those!

IQ has meetings every Tuesday at 7pm in Emerald Bay C so come and get to know the IQ board and other IQ members at our very first meeting this Tuesday 09/27!

Oh! One more thing! IQ will soon have it's very own Tumblr so if some of you aren't fans of Blogspot or just prefer to Tumbl then have no fear! Both blogs will be available with the same information so please enjoy!

I HOPE TO YOU SEE YOU GUYS AT THE MEETING!!!

Yours Truly,
Jasmin Guevarra
Publicity Chair 2011-2012

Gina's Pizza Funraising

In case none of you know, Irvine Queers doesn't have a lot of money. So if you'd like to see more activities that involves taking from our funds. So when you order anything from Gina's on January 18th (our next board meeting) after 5, mention "Irvine Queers" to the cashier and we get some dough. Also remember that after Gina's we'll head out to Spectrum housing (the queer house)  in AV to play some board with with some fellow mates. See you there soon.

Week 7 Announcements.

These are announcements made by your fellow members during meeting. If you couldn't keep track, here's a list of things going on.

-Jonathan Lopez asked about any members willing to participate with a survey. Any more details contact him at:
email:jnlopez@uci.edu
cell #: 323.627.4338

-Join TAG TEAM in recognizing Trans-Action week by wearing duct tape x's throughout the week (Week 8).

On Friday, 11/19, in recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance, we will gather at the Student Center Plaza at noon to create a giant human X.

Transgender Day of Remembrance raises public awareness of the threat of violence faced by gender variant individuals and the persistence of prejudice experienced by the transgender community. We gather together to not only mourn those who have been lost to violence, but also to recognize the need to keep spreading messages of acceptance and education.

Invite everyone you know! Join us in spreading awareness.

If you have any questions, TAG TEAM members will be tabling on ring road in front of Zot n' Go on Tuesday 11/9 and Wednesday 11/10 (Week 7).

If you want to make it official on participation, go to the facebook link below.

Welcome! and Feedback Post

Irvine Queers oficially (and finally) has a blog. The purpose of this blog is for any of those who cannot make it to meetings or for those who simply want to see what's up with the queer community. There might also be updates of what you missed out on and hopefully a flicker stream of all the fun stuff we do. Posts will pretty much be published by Riley (publicity chair), Rachel (media/historian chair), and Ron (political chair) [wow all of our names start with an "R"]. This post really doesn't have much else to cover, so it will also serve as getting feedback from all of you lovely people. Leave constructive (anonymous if you'd like) criticism about what you envision IQ to be and the board will see what they can do.
