Welcome Back 4/3 Update

Hello!

I hope your first week has been great or at least ok.
This past Tuesday we gathered in Newport Beach A. We had several fun activities. Some of us learned about cars, others about fruits, heck we even learned about some tasty beverages.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

• Come join the committee that plans our annual drag show. If you saw something problematic in last year's show that you would like to change we encourage you to join. Ideas are welcomed. Meetings will be every Wednesday at 7PM in SST 220.
• Isabel Bogarin needs volunteers for a photography project in which she will be focusing on the LGBTQIA community, along with labels and identity. She will be taking 3 portraits of each person. Each image will be submitted to Catalyst Gallery so she can host her first solo gallery showing. She needs at least 13 volunteers.  If interested please contact her. (ibogarin@uci.edu)
• Delta Lambda Phi has begun recruiting. DLP is a greek fraternity for gay, bisexual and progressive  men. They have events going on throughout this week and week 2. To find out more about their events, head on over to their facebook (Delta Lambda Phi)
• Elections for ASUCI are around the corner. Tonight we had the pleasure of having the following candidates speak to us regarding their campaign: Traci Ishigo for President, Andrea Gaspar for Executive Vice President, Jessica Phan for Vice President of Student Services and, Neil Bautista for Vice President of Academic Affairs. • Irvine Queers will also be having elections soon! Nominations will be Week 3 and elections will be Week 4. The board positions available are as follows: Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity, and Historian. Other positions such as Fundraising, Outreach and Political Chair are positions which you apply for. We encourage anybody who has enthusiasm for a certain positions to apply or nominate themselves BUT keep in mind that it will be a year long commitment! 
• FUNDRAISING!!! If you are interested in helping plan fundraising along with tabling and coming up with fundraisers please contact me. An easy way to help IQ is by using Goodsearch. Instead of using Goodsearch or other search engines go to Goodsearch.com for your "internet inquiries." :) We get money! Just remember to include Irvine Queers under WHO DO YOU GOODSEARCH FOR.  (annieyaya92@gmail.com)

          

Last but definitely not least, IQ will be having its quarterly bonfire this FRIDAY!!!!!! Join us at Corona del Mar on Friday, April 6th at 6:00PM. If you need a ride meet at the flagpoles at 5:30. Snacks and drinks will be provided :)

Back to School :/ :)

Hello there!

I hope your spring break was fantastically awesome! And if not well, I hope it was at least better than being in school :)

Anywho, since school is just around the corner that means that I.Q. will be having a bonfire! Wooohoo right? Snacks will be provided. It's this Friday. If you need a ride and/or can give a ride please let us know! How? Well post on the wall silly. What wall? This wall -->BONFIRE.

2/13 Update

Why hello there!

How have you been? Good I hope. :)

Last week we had Project RunGay! This quarter's theme was Super Heroes. Congrats to all the winners!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

• Drag Show Committee has begun to form! If you are interested in being part of the committee that does so much for our yearly drag show, PLEASE contact Riley. Meetings will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Place has yet to be determined.

• TAG TEAM is still selling buttons for one dollar. If you would to buy some you can go to the LGBTRC. Look for Sophie or Amanda! Each button is $1.
• Goodsearch is a great, easy way to help I.Q. All you need to do is go to goodsearch.com and type in Irvine Queers for WHO DO YOU GOODSEARCH FOR. Each time you search, I.Q get's money. :)
• Last BUT DEFINITELY not least, the National Queer People of Color Conference is this month!It will start on the 30 of March and end on the 1st of APril. Go to the link found above to register. If you register by this Friday then you only have to pay $25. Tomorrow there will be a special so if you purchase is tomorrow it will only be $15. This year it will be held at CSU Northridge. Carpool will be available.
• Elections are coming up! Elections for ext year's board members will be up soon, so you should start thinking about who you would like to nominate.

There are so many awesome things going on this week! You should attend ALL OF THEM! But you don't have to :)

The Black Student Union (B.S.U) is having a Queer Week! There will be discussions and workshops going on throughout the week. For more info take a look at their facebook event page.

This week is Radical Rush Week brought to you by ASUCI. Today was the first day of the events, but it's ok there are still many events to follow. If you're worried about fees and the budget cuts and much more then this is made for you. For more info check out the facebook event page.

IT'S BEEN TOO LONG

Hello my lovelies, I know, I know. It's been awhile.

So much has happened in the time I have been away. Club Q, The Vagina Monologues, CARE, Kiss In/ Gay Penguin Day. But you attended most of them so I don't need to catch you up right? Right?! No worries, I still think you are awesome.

Western Regionals are going on as I type this up! To those of you awesome individuals there, hope you're having a great time.

Thank you to all those who attended our quarterly dance, Club Q. I hope you had a good time. Also if you won a date congrats :) BUT please don't forget to go on your date and don't forget to pay! I have your contact info and will be contacting those who haven't paid yet :)

Another great big thank you to all those who attended the group event to go watch The Vagina Monologues. I hope you enjoyed the show and also took the time to realize all the problems that exist within the show. Here is a very interesting critique about the show. Please check it out :)

• QUAC a queer/trans (maga)zine is accepting submissions until March 1st. The editors are graduating this year so in case you would like to become a part of this project, email Cameron.

• TAG TEAM is now selling buttons!  Each button is $1. Sophie has several so you can buy some from her. They will also be sold at the next I.Q meeting.

• I.Q Sweatshirts are now in!! If you ordered one please go to the LGBT Resource Center to pick yours up.
• Queer Cultural Festival is coming up! Woohooo! It's a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the presence of friends. And you don't need to dance! It will be on March 3. There will be several workshops and FREE FOOD! Yes the one thing that makes millions of college students shriek with excitement, FOOD that is FREE! A $5 donation is suggested. So come one, come all. Come make a rainbow anteater pillow and repair clothing! Full info is here.

• Just another reminder that Goodsearch is a great, easy way to help out I.Q. Just use it whenever you need to look something up. Every time you search under our name, we get money. This money all goes back to our members so we can have fun events for YOU.

REMINDERS!!!

Hello lovely birds!

Hope your weekend was spectacular!

REMINDERS

• Western Regionals are on the 24, 25, and the 26 of this month! It's a statewide queer conference. It will be in Stockton this year but I.Q members are awesome and usually try to arrange some form of carpool. Apply online by THIS WEDNESDAY! Western Regionals
• Also the meeting today will be held in a different location. Head over to Doheny Beach C. Today is a pajama social so bring your comfy sleep jams :]
• If interested in buying an I.Q Sweatshirt please bring $25 to the meeting to give to Amanda. 
• Club Q is this FRIDAY!!!!!!! Make sure to come. It will be awesome! We will have non-alcoholic drinking games! You will get a chance to win a date with some of our awesome board members (yes I will be an option). If you are single and ready to mingle, ATTEND. If you are dating and would love to get your boogie on, PLEASE ATTEND! The theme is Forbidden Love; A Valentine's Affair.
